The Biewer Terrier is related to the Yorkshire Terrier however they are not the same breed based on many characteristics. The genetic make up the Biewer Terrier dog breed is its own separate breed and many breeders strive to keep it a pure breed based on their standards. Many breeders of this breed feel it is necessary to keep the line clean that it is not bred with the Yorkshire Terrier and that it is not the same breed. This along with many other breeds are considered a controversial breed and some organizations do not recognize the Biewer breed. No matter how you pronounce the name it is still a beautiful breed of dog.
